Patterns in Nature
My collages are inspired by patterns seen in nature and begin with the exploratory process of the layering effects of mono prints. By contrasting the formal elements of value, color, line, shapes, patterns and texture, I love to create the happy accidents of layering luminous and opaque paints. Layers of water based mixed media are pressed on paper and a gel printing plate, using masks, stencils, stamps and found objects, such as leaves, flowers, bubble wrap, rope and keys. The prints are then manipulated and rearranged into an abstract collage.
